IMG Seminar Series 01/17/2020
Submitted by Carlos Manzanas on Thu, 01/16/2020 - 1:28pm
The schedule for this week's seminar is:
11.45 - Dr. Sanjeev Koppal:
Title: Fast Foveation for LIDARs, Projectors and Cameras
IMG research focuses on micro- and nanosystems for healthcare, energy, security, aerospace, transportation, consumer electronics, and other industries. Efforts include design, fabrication, characterization, and ultimately deployment of micro and nanotechnologies for a wide variety of applications. IMG is playing a leading role in the MIST Center (Multi-functional integrated system technology), an NSF I/UCRC program.

Congratulations to the students and researchers from IMG who were accepted to present at the 33rd IEEE MEMS 2020 Conference in Vancouver, Canada! IEEE MEMS is one of the largest conferences for MEMS experts to converge at. Overall, 11 papers from IMG were accepted out of 800+ abstracts submitted worldwide, as seen below:
Dr. David Arnold’s Group:
The speaker for this week's seminar is:
11:55am - 12:45pm: Dr. Yong Huang (Invited speaker - UF): Additive Manufacturing and its Applications to Three-Dimensional Bioprinting
Congratulations to IMG member Kartik Sondhi! Kartik won the award for best poster at the IDTechEx Show! in Santa Clara, CA last week. This conference focuses on emerging technologies and is the biggest conference for research in printed electronics. Awesome work!
IMG welcomes its newest faculty member—Dr. Jennifer Andrew from the UF Department of Materials Science and Engineering! Dr. Andrew and her group have collaborated with IMG on various projects since she joined the UF faculty in 2011, and her research interests include developing functional nano materials for biomedical and electronic applications. As such, she’s a natural fit!
Glad to have you on board!
The speaker for this week's seminar is:
11:55am - 12:45pm: Dr. G. Bahar Basim (Invited speaker - UF): A Review on Controlling Nano-Scale Chemically Modified Thin Films for Microelectronics Processes Development
Congratulations to Kartik Sondhi (advised by Dr. Nishida and Dr. Fan), Renuka Bowrothu (advised by Dr. Yoon), and Kangfu Chen (advised by Dr. Fan) on winning the 2019 IMG Excellence in Research Award! After a long deliberation, the IMG faculty and students selected these members for this award to show appreciation for their research efforts and contributions to their respective fields. May we all aspire to such a level of achievement!
Mayur Ghatge will defend his Ph.D. dissertation entitled "Linear and Non-Linear Micro-Acoustic Waveguides for Frequency Control Applications" at 9:45 am on Wednesday, November 20 in LAR 234.
IMG faculty member, Dr. Z. Hugh Fan, saw his group make a big showing at the MicroTAS 2019 Conference in Basel, Switzerland! His students Pablo Dopico, Carlos Manzanas, and Karim Yousry are presenting their work there this week. Nice job!
