Proposal Defense - Daniel Blood

Daniel Blood will defend his dissertation proposal "Simulation, Part Path Correction, and Automated Process Parameter Selection for Ultrashort Pulsed Laser Micro-Machining of Sapphire" on Thursday, January 16 in MAE-B 210 at 1:00. NSF I/UCRC Planning Meeting for Multi-functional Integrated System Technology (MIST) Nov. 19-20

IMG faculty and students are a major part of the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) Planning Meeting for Multi-functional Integrated System Technology (MIST) held Nov. 19-20 at the UF Hilton Conference Center.  Led by Dr. Toshi Nishida (Director) and Dr. David Arnold (Deputy Director) and facilitated by all of the IMG faculty, over 30 representatives from companies and agencies attended the planning meeting.  Several poster presentations were given by IMG students. The MIST Center is a joint effort between UF and UCF with the mission to pioneer the "More than Moore" era by developing materials, processes, and devices that increase the functionality of integrated systems.

Mohammad Malakooti receives UF's 2013-2014 Outstanding International Student Award

Mohammad Malakooti, a PhD student in Dr. Henry Sodano's group, has been selected by the College of Engineering as one of its 2013-2014 recipients of the Outstanding International Student Award. This annual award at University of Florida is used to recognize students who not only meet exemplary academic achievement, but also show a wide range of accomplishments and contributions to the community.

IMG Seminar Series: Sub-mm Magnetic Undulators for Photon Generation

This Friday at 11:15 AM, Alexandra Garraud will give a practice talk in preparation for a presentation at the 1st Advanced Superconducting Test Accelerator (ASTA) Users' Meeting at  Fermilab, IL . During this talk, the fabrication, operation and applications of the magnetic undulator with an electron beam will be discussed. All are encouraged to attend. The venue is LAR 234.
 
The seminar will be followed by the IMG BBQ at 12 PM.
