IMG Seminar Series: Delivering Energy to Surface-Conjugated Biomacromolecules & The IMG wiki

Event date:
Fri, 06/07/2013 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Two talks have been scheduled for tomorrow's seminar. The first talk will be delivered by a guest speaker, Adam Monsalve from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Adam will present his work on the methods of delivering energy to surface-conjugated biomacromolecules via alternating magnetic fields to control bioactivity.

In the second talk, Pitfee Jao will give a follow-up discussion on the use of the IMG wiki from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM. All are encouraged to attend. The talks will be followed by the IMG BBQ at 12 noon.

IMG Welcomes Jack Judy to the Faculty

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jack W. Judy to IMG.  Dr. Judy joins UF in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept. as the Intel/Charles E. Young Endowed Chair in Nanotechnology and will also serve as the Director of the UF Nanoscience Institute of Medical and Engineering Technology (NIMET).  Before joining UF, Dr. Judy was a program manager at DARPA and Professor of Electrical Engineering at UCLA.

IMG Seminar Series: Magnetic patterning of hard magnetic films for biomagnetic applications

Event date:
Fri, 05/31/2013 - 3:30pm to 4:00pm

This Friday at 11:30 am, we will have a presentation by Ololade Oniku on "Magnetic patterning of hard magnetic films for biomagnetic applications." This will be a practice talk for Ololade's upcoming conference and fellow IMGers are invited to provide constructive inputs for the presentation. The talk will be followed by the IMG BBQ at noon.

Cheolbok Kim Receives IEEE AP-S Doctoral Research Award

Congratulations to Cheolbok Kim on receiving the 2013 IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society (AP-S) Doctoral Research Award! The IEEE AP-S awards up to ten PhD fellowships each year to encourage students to pursue a career in the area of Antenna and Electromagnetics. The awards are intended to support students involved in project work directed by a faculty member at their institution who is a member of the IEEE AP-S. The title of his research is: "Low Loss and High Gain Terahertz Antenna Systems Using Micromachined Air-lifted 3D Structures and Metamaterials" The award selection is based on creativity and quality of the proposed project, discussion of the technical interests and skills of the student as well as the recommendation letter.
