IMG Seminar: Improving the magnetic properties of Parylene-bonded NdFeB Powder Micromagnets; Wireless Power Transmission using Electromechanical systems

Event date:
Fri, 07/15/2011 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Ololade Oniku in his talk will be discussing the motivation and present development in the use of powder micromagnets for MEMS applications. He will also highlight the techniques that could be employed in the future to improve the properties of these micromagnets. Vikram Divakar will be speaking on the topic of using magnetically excited electrodynamic harvesters to acheive wireless power transmission. Following the seminar there will be Haitian BBQ in the Larsen-Benton courtyard.

Shuo Cheng Wins College of Engineering Award for "Professional Excellence"

IMGers Landing Top Jobs

Despite the slow economic recovery, IMG graduate students and post-graduate associates have continued to land top industry and government jobs.  Since the spring semester, several IMG graduates have departed or will depart for full-time positions across the United States.  These members are:

  • Drew Wetzel (PhD '11) - Boeing Commercial Aircraft (Seattle, WA)
  • Chris Bahr (PhD '10 and post-graduate associate until May '11) - NASA Langley Research Center (Langley, VA)
  • Jeremy Sells (PhD '11)- Hewlett Packard (Corvalis, OR)
  • Matt Williams (PhD '11) - Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM)
  • Ben Griffin (PhD '09 and post-graduate associate until July '11) - Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM)

Congratulations to all of these former students!

David Arnold and YK Yoon co-author chapter in MEMS Materials and Processes Handbook

Dr. David Arnold and Dr. YK Yoon co-authored a chapter on metal deposition processes in the recently published MEMS Materials and Processes Handbook. With contributions from 35 industrial and academic MEMS researchers worldwide, the handbook provides a comprehensive reference for new materials, known materials, and specific processes for MEMS fabrication.
