NSF I/UCRC Planning Meeting for Multi-functional Integrated System Technology (MIST) Nov. 19-20

IMG faculty and students are a major part of the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) Planning Meeting for Multi-functional Integrated System Technology (MIST) held Nov. 19-20 at the UF Hilton Conference Center.  Led by Dr. Toshi Nishida (Director) and Dr. David Arnold (Deputy Director) and facilitated by all of the IMG faculty, over 30 representatives from companies and agencies attended the planning meeting.  Several poster presentations were given by IMG students. The MIST Center is a joint effort between UF and UCF with the mission to pioneer the "More than Moore" era by developing materials, processes, and devices that increase the functionality of integrated systems.

IMGers Attend Acoustical Society of America Meeting in Seattle, WA

Lou Cattafesta and Fei Liu attended the 161st Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in Seattle, Washington on May 23-27.

Fei presented a talk on Thursday, May 26th, titled Analyzing acoustic response of orifices using transfer matrix method, co-authored by Matias Oyarzun and Lou Cattafesta.

Lou presented a talk on Friday, May 27th, titled An aeroacoustic microelectromechanical systems microphone phased array, co-authored by Adam Edstrand, Chris Bahr, Matt Williams, Jessica Meloy, Tiffany Reagan, Drew Wetzel and Mark Sheplak.  In it, Lou described ongoing work at IMG to transition recently-developed MEMS piezoelectric microphones into phased arrays in the UF Aeroacoustic Flow Facility.
