IMG research focuses on micro- and nanosystems for healthcare, energy, security, aerospace, transportation, consumer electronics, and other industries. Efforts include design, fabrication, characterization, and ultimately deployment of micro and nanotechnologies for a wide variety of applications. IMG is playing a leading role in the MIST Center (Multi-functional integrated system technology), an NSF I/UCRC program.

A world class grazing flow impedance tube (GFIT) facility has been brought to UF and now a part of IMG. The tunnel, once used at the NASA LaRC in Hampton, VA will allow for cutting edge research to be done in the areas of acoustic liner technology and testing, shear stress measurements and synthetic jet research. Currently being installed, the tunnel should be operational by Summer 2009.

Congratulations to Brian Homeijer on his successful dissertation defense "Design, Fabrication and Characterization of a MEMS Piezoresistive Microphone for use in Aeroacoustic Measurements." Brian will be heading to HP at Corvallis Oregon to start his career as a research and development engineer. Go Brian!
