Robert Dieme will defend his dissertation on the subject of noise in piezoresistors on Friday, October 9th at 9:30am in Larsen 234. All are invited to attend and food will be served.

Kemiao Jia will defend his dissertation, entitled "Development and applications of high fill-factor, small footprint MEMS micromirrors and micromirror arrays," on Wednesday, October 14th at 2:00pm in Larsen 234. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.

Jeremy Sells will propose his dissertation topic, "Passive Wireless Direct Shear-Stress Sensor Array," on Friday, September 25, 2009 at noon in Larsen 234. All are welcome to attend.

Sheetal Shetye will be defending her dissertation, entitled "Magnetic Self-Assembly of Small Parts" on Tuesday, July 21st at 1pm in the Nanoscale Research Facility (NRF) room 115. All are welcome to attend.

Dr. David Arnold has been selected as a winner of a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) for research entitled "Development of Fully Integrated Micromagnetic Actuator Technologies." The PECASE is the "highest honor bestowed by the United States government on young professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers." Congratulations, Dr. Arnold!

Chris Bahr and Dr. Fei Liu recently presented their work at the 157th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in Portland Oregon. Chris' talk was entitled Analysis of Coherent Power Techniques, and Dr. Liu's talk was Acoustic Energy Harvesting Using an Electromechanical Helmholtz Resonator.

Today, Drew Wetzel is presenting a paper at the 39th AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference in San Antonio, TX entitled "An Experimental Study of Circulation Control on an Elliptic Airfoil."
