IMG research focuses on micro- and nanosystems for healthcare, energy, security, aerospace, transportation, consumer electronics, and other industries. Efforts include design, fabrication, characterization, and ultimately deployment of micro and nanotechnologies for a wide variety of applications. IMG is playing a leading role in the MIST Center (Multi-functional integrated system technology), an NSF I/UCRC program.

Chris Bahr and Dr. Fei Liu recently presented their work at the 157th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in Portland Oregon. Chris' talk was entitled Analysis of Coherent Power Techniques, and Dr. Liu's talk was Acoustic Energy Harvesting Using an Electromechanical Helmholtz Resonator.
Today, Drew Wetzel is presenting a paper at the 39th AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference in San Antonio, TX entitled "An Experimental Study of Circulation Control on an Elliptic Airfoil."
David Arnold is the Technical Program Co-Chair for the upcoming 9th International Workshop on Micro and Nanotechnology for Power Generation and Energy Conversion Applications in Washington, DC in November. Click the link for more information.
The National Science Foundation has just announced that IMG senior undergraduate researcher Jared Lee has been selected a winner of a Graduate Research Fellowship. As a winner of this prestigious award, Jared will receive funds for graduate study worth $44,500/yr for three years. Jared plans to begin his graduate work in the fall at Stanford University. Congratulations, Jared!
Congratulations are due to Vijay Chandrasekharan for the successful defense of his dissertation, entitled "A Microscale Differential Capacitive Direct Wall Shear Stress Sensor." Congratulations from all of IMG!
After graduation, Vijay plans to retrieve his shear stress sensors from the clutches of the evil Sith, who believe it is a transformative technology in their quest to rule the universe. (The force is strong in Vijay.)
