Mingliang Wang will be proposing his dissertation topic, "Integrated Power Inductors in Silicon for Portable Electronics" on Tuesday, December 9th at 10am in Larsen 229. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.
Kemiao Jia will be proposing his dissertation topic, "Study on High Fill-Factor, Small Form-Factor Micromirror and Micromirror Array" on Thursday, November 20th at 10am in Larsen 229. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.
Israel Boniche will be defending his dissertation proposal, "A Silicon-Micromachined Thermoelectric Generator for Power Generation from Hot Gas Streams," at 12 PM Wednesday November 26th in Larsen 234. All are welcome to attend.
Sheetal Shetye and Ilan Eskinazi will be presenting a poster at MEMS 2009 in Sorrento Italy entitled, "Part-to-part and part-to-substrate magnetic self-assembly of millimeter scale components with angular orientation"
Congratulations to Brian Homeijer on his successful dissertation defense "Design, Fabrication and Characterization of a MEMS Piezoresistive Microphone for use in Aeroacoustic Measurements." Brian will be heading to HP at Corvallis Oregon to start his career as a research and development engineer. Go Brian!

Vijay Chandrasekharan will be proposing his dissertation topic, "A Microscale Differential Capacitive Direct Wall Shear Stress Sensor," at 11:45 AM Friday October 3rd in Larsen 234. All are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided.
Shuo Cheng and Ben Bowers both got papers accepted to PowerMEMS 2008 in Sendai Japan. Shuo's paper, "A Multi-Pole Magnetic Generator with Enhanced Voltage Output for Low-Frequency Vibrational Energy Harvesting," will be presented as an oral, and Ben's paper, "Spherical Magnetic Generators for Bio-Motional Energy Harvesting," will be presented as a poster.
Several IMG members are proposing their dissertation topics in the month of August.
