Daniel Blood, a former Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering PhD from IMG, has been making an impact as an assistant professor at Valparaiso University. Through 3D printing, Dr. Blood has been producing over 100 face shields a day for those on the front lines of the COVID-19 fight! We appreciate all that you do! Go gators and go IMG!
The UF Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department chair, Dr. Scott Banks, traveled to Seattle this week to meet with Boeing engineers, including Patrick King and former UF IMG alumni Brandon Bertolucci, Dylan Alexander, Todd Schultz, and Ashley Jones (not pictured). Dr. Alex Phipps, 2010 ECE PhD and IMG alumnus was selected as one of the Top Scientists and Engineers of the Year by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research Development and Acquisition. Congratulations Alex!
•Dr. Alex Phipps: Selected in the Emergent Engineer Investigator category for his accomplishments in advancing wireless underwater power transfer technologies. “What we’re doing is looking to find a way for unmanned underwater vehicles to persist underwater for much greater periods of time and still be able to perform their mission without having to surface,” Phipps said.
On Thursday morning, IMG alumnus Dr. Benjamin Griffin and family welcomed a new baby girl into their family. Eleanor Angeline Griffin weighed 8 lbs 10 oz. Congratulations to Ben and his growing family!
Congratulations to Dr. Chris Bahr and his wife Stephanie on the birth of their beautiful baby girl. Tessa Bahr was born on 6/26/2011 at 2:24 pm, entering the world at a healthy 6 lbs, 15 oz!
