IMG Lab Expansion in Benton Hall

With the new Nanoscience Research Facility nearing completion, UFNF facilities in Benton Hall are expected to be vacated in summer 2008. The released space has been assigned to IMG by the College of Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. As a result, IMG lab space will expand from ~4000 to ~6000 square feet and six IMG faculty members will be co-located in Benton Hall. This will likely take place at the end of this year. The expected benefits of co-localization of IMG labs include more interaction among IMG faculty and students, higher efficiency in using lab space, and potential cost-savings from sharing equipment. With the new Nanoscience Research Facility nearing completion, UFNF facilities in Benton Hall are expected to be vacated in summer 2008.
