Mike Gideons is a civil service member with the U.S. Air Force and a recipient of the SMART scholarship. Mike is a first-year Ph.D. student focusing on cyber-secure development of tamper-resistant microelectronics.

Mike received the B.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering in 1997 from the University of Florida. He worked as an Applications Engineer at Texas Instruments from 1998 to 2002 developing circuit boards, microcontroller code, FPGA configurations, and PC applications enabling rapid evaluation of first silicon. From 2002 to 2010 Mike worked in TI's Mobile Business Unit as a digital designer for mobile mixed signal devices, becoming a DFT expert and leading TI’s first production implementation of the IEEE P1500 (now IEEE 1500) standard, improving testability of digital cores and enabling vector-based production testing of analog circuits.

In 2010, Mike transitioned to civil service with the U.S. Air Force. In 2013 he was awarded the SMART scholarship and in 2014 received the M.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida. Mike continued supporting acquisition activities of the U.S. Air Force until being awarded the SMART scholarship to pursue his doctorate.
