Welcome back from a great summer IMG members!
As the Fall semester moves closer, we will be having our IMG Kickoff Meeting on August 18, 2017 from 11:45AM to 1:30PM. During this meeting, we'll cover all manner of IMG topics and introduce new members to the group. We will also be taking our group photo, so if you have a IMG polo or t-shirt, feel free to wear it.
Please note, all IMG members are expected to attend this meeting! Pizza and drinks will be provided as well!
Ashley Jones will defend her dissertation, entitled: "Unsteady Circulation Control for High-Performance Low-Noise Aircraft" on Friday, 3/31, at 9:30 AM in Larsen 234. Refreshments will be provided.
Miguel Palaviccini will defend his dissertation, entitled "Control of Three-Dimensional Flow Over a Turret" at 10AM, on Monday, April 22nd, in NRF 115. Refreshments will be provided.
Nik Zawodny will defend his dissertation, entitled "Aeroacoustic Characterization of Scaled Canonical Nose Landing Gears" at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, March 29th in MAE-B, room 210. Breakfast snacks will be provided, however seating is limited.
Brandon Bertolucci will defend his dissertation entitled "An Experimental Investigation of the Grazing Flow Impedance Duct at the University of Florida for Acoustic Liner Applications" in Larsen 234 at 2:30 p.m.
John Griffin will defend his dissertation proposal, entitled "On the Control of a Canonical Separated Flow" at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 6th in CSE 507. Refreshments will be provided but space is limited.
Ashley Jones will defend her dissertation proposal, entitled "Unsteady Circulation Control for High-Performance, Low-Noise Aircraft" at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 22 in Larsen 234.
John Griffin will be giving a talk on nonlinear flow interactions that dominate separated flows. He will discuss the methodology for implementing effective, low power control strategies using various actuators in realistic separated flows. Ashley Jones will be speaking on unsteady circulation control: the motivation as well as the ongoing research on its potential applications in today's technology.
At this week's IMG seminar, Benjamin George will give a talk to outline the initial steps in using flow control to improve the aero-optic performance of flow behind a three dimensional turret. Kiri Hamaker will speak on the topic of detection of nicotine metabolites for second hand smoke using micellar electrokinetic chromatography.
