Description
Objectives
- Design, fabricate, calibrate, and test a shear stress sensor capable of measuring stresses up to 500 Pa with a resolution of .1% using direct optical measurement methods
Benefits
- Direct measurement methods provide better signal to noise ratio than indirect methods
- The device is not affected by electromagnetic interference due to the optical sensing scheme
- Moiré optical detection allows for a single device to operate over multiple order of magnitudes
