The Grazing Flow Impedance Tube (GFIT) is a world class facility for measuring acoustic liner performance in the presence of cross-flow. Using several canonical techniques and comparing versus new technology, including Oil-Film Interferometry (OFI) and most recently a series of MEMS based direct shear stress sensors, a more accurate picture of the drag detriment by the liners can be understood.
